6.2.1 Local Television Content Producers
Tubatse TV Production, TK Audio Visual, Talk About It Media, Maepa Pro Video, Multi Talent Media
Agency and Sekhukhune Community Radio. These organisations have specialisation in media
development which serve the purpose of our initiative, together with Sekhukhune Development
Agency which committed capital injection. Tubatse TV Production will provide business development
and technical know-how drawing on its extensive experience in social enterprise and community
media. Tubatse TV Production has also agreed to be one of the content providers.
6.2.2 Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA)
Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA) is an economic development agency working in Sekhukhune
District having specialist creative and digital sector know how. SDA has been coordinating this initiative
on job opportunity creation project and will be jerking the television initiative to a Provincial scale.
This require the active involvement of Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA). SDA will also
provide strategic advice and assist build linkages with local development planning.
6.2.3 TK Audio Visual Production
TK Audio Visual Production is a Limpopo-based media production company with expertise in small
scale television, corporate production and AV technical solutions. TK Audio Visual Production will
provide support for training and development, quality management, commercial development and
financial sustainability.
6.2.4 University of Limpopo
University of Limpopo, Department of Media Studies University of Limpopo has pledged their support
for the initiative since 2013 during the Limpopo Common Vision Workshop on Community Television
and is prepared to encourage students to produce and have programmes broadcast on the channel.
6.2.5 Sekhukhune TVET College
Sekhukhune TVET College through its Centre for Entrepreneurship and Rapid Incubator will provide
specialised on-demand skills essential to accelerating supply of competent, skilled and energetic
young graduates and entrepreneurs in media production, journalism and photography. Discussions
around incorporating the building of a new digital television studio together with industry standard
video and audio editing equipment in the new skills centre operated by the college are at advanced
stage. Its marketing, media and journalism courses will gain accreditation with the availability of the
SkCTV’s broadcasting license as a major motivation. Sekhukhune TVET College will provide advisory
support in the development of the news offer. Students at Sekhukhune TVET College will use college
facilities to produce programming for SkCTV while through the media apprenticeship scheme, student
journalists will gain work experience in the localTV newsroom.
6.2.6 Limpopo Provincial Legislature
Limpopo Provincial Legislature and the five District Municipal Councils of (Capricorn, Mopani,
Sekhukhune, Vhembe and Waterberg) are lobbied to support the television channel from which they
will benefit substantially in terms of engagement throughout its development. The Municipal Manager
of the District pledged to provide continuing officer time in the development of the business plan, to
assist with linkages to local festivals and events, and to give consideration to directing media spend to
the platform.
6.2.7 Limpopo Sports Confederation
Sekhukhune Community Television was invited to present to the Executive Board of Limpopo Sports
Confederation regarding establishing the sports broadcasting hub in Peter Mokaba Stadium precinct
where the headquarters of Limpopo Sports Confederation will be located. Post licensing, the Limpopo
Sports Confederation will benefit from capacity building and horizontal learning from its counterpart,
the Gauteng Sports Confederation. The initial visit to the premises of Gauteng Sports Confederation
was conducted on 10 January 2023 and the business model for sports broadcasting in Gauteng was
recommended as the best for customisation in Limpopo Province.
Gauteng Sport Confederation is in the advanced stage of setting up the television channel and that
will be servicing all the sporting codes and its member federations. Similar to the Gauteng model, the
Limpopo Sports Confederation will be focusing of diversity of sporting codes and prioritise grassroots
sport development in the Province, giving all five Districts an equitable representation and coverage
6.2.8 Gauteng Sports Confederation
We are aware of Gauteng Sports Confederation’s intentions to operate a sports broadcasting
channel in its headquarters in Johannesburg Stadium. This presents an enabling and
connective platform for a shared capacity building and skills transfer for the youth of Limpopo
to feed content to Sekhukhune Community Television and the other licensed television
initiatives to operate in Limpopo. Limpopo Sports Confederation is empowered to plug into
the affirming prospects of a shared capacity building and skills transfer to benefit the youth
of Limpopo Province under the aegis of Gauteng Sports Confederation and SkCTV.
6.2.8 Other supporters
Numerous other organisations and individuals have pledged their support. These include arts and
voluntary organisations – Arts organisations, Limpopo Sports Confederation, Traditional Leadership
Organisations, youth development organisations, science and mathematics organisations,
Department of Sport Arts and Culture, Government Communications and Information System.
