Sekhukhune Community Television will sell advertising, sponsorship and co-promotion opportunities
to local businesses within the Limpopo Province and to businesses targeting consumers in Limpopo.
We will employ an in-house sales team and will also benefit from partnership with an established
regional advertising sales agency.
We have undertaken interview-based and questionnaire research with over 100 local businesses
including 50 prospective advertisers that have significant advertising spend and drawn from
entertainment and leisure, the service sector, retail of all sizes, legal, restaurants, travel, high value /
luxury goods, events and music venues, estate agents, home improvement businesses, agencies, the
public sector.
We have also consulted and established relationships with business networks including Limpopo
Tourism Agency, Limpopo Provincial Tourism Association, Youth Chamber of Commerce, Business
Exhibitors’ Forum, and with Limpopo’s leading PR / marketing and communications agencies
representing clients within and across sectors of business.
Our research demonstrated significant interest from potential advertisers to test advertising and
sponsorship on SkCTV. Of the ‘large local advertisers’ we interviewed, 72% will consider advertising
on the channel if the cost per thousand is comparative to their existing media.
9.3 Joint Advertising Representation
Nearly 20% of the small businesses surveyed were prepared immediately to consider advertising on
SkCTV. Sekhukhune Community Television has joined together with other local digital television
licence applicants to form a sector association, the Limpopo Community Television Network, and to
appoint a joint advertising sales house.
Joint advertising representation and sales will be provided by a company to be appointed during the
post-licensing phase. The prospective representative will be an experienced agency with extensive
contacts and a track record of success in generating television advertising. The network as a whole will
have audience figures measured by the Advertising Standards Authority, which provides the television
industry standard for audience research and measurement. SkCTV will also generate revenue from
grants and contracts for the delivery of social and economic benefits
